BELGAUM: The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to Medical, Engineering and other professional courses in the state will be held on May 1 and 2. In Belgaum district, 7168 students will be appearing for the test, which will be held at 16 different centres across the district. Due to students preferring commerce, the number of students appearing for CET has come down this year.
Last year, 8064 students appeared for the test while this year it has come down to 7168 students, which is 896 less than last year. “Students have started giving importance to commerce that is the reason the number of students taking up CET has come down when compare to last year,” said incharge DDPU Bendigeri.
Among 16 centres across the district, seven will be in Belgaum city while Chikkodi will have four centres; Gokak three centres and Athani will have two centres. On May 1, students will be appearing for Biology from 10.30am to 11.50am, Mathematics from 2.30pm to 3.50pm while on May 2, Physics from 10.30am to 11.50am and Chemistry from 2.30pm to 3.50pm.
